A streamers dream

Like countless other bands working their way around the affectionately-named ‘toilet circuit’ of small, rough-and-ready London venues, The 1975 scored their first decent headline slot at what was once known as the Camden Barfly.

Well, in a lovely circular bit of promotion, the band are set to return to the Chalk Farm Road spot (now rechristened ‘Camden Assembly’) where they first made a splash back in 2012.

And get this – the crowd will entirely consist of the group’s top listeners on Spotify Premium.

I mean on one level you want to be, like, ‘what a pile of corporate wank’.

But then, these clearly are the real fans. Tricky one.

Look, here’s a mural that’s just been put up over the road:

Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975 (and son of Denise Welch off Coronation Street) has said in a press release: “We are really looking forward to being back at the venue where we played our first London show, it will be great to share that moment with our top listeners on Spotify Premium.”

If you can’t be arsed to schlep up to Camden, and anyway you’re not some tragic keen-bean Spotify fanboy, they’re playing Kingston’s New Slang club night on November 29.

But wait, there's more! Next week The 1975's new LP A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships comes out, which should be decent.
