Great news for fans of two of the greatest guitar bands of all time - The 100 Club in London will, for one night only, be host to a gig for a band featuring New York turned Stoke Newington-based Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones. They will be joined by extraordinary improvisational jazz drummer Steve Noble.

This gig, held on 28 March, is part of a fundraising efforts made for community radio station Resonance FM, reports Consequence of Sound. It's a non-profit station founded in 1998.

The chance to hear Thurston Moore's incredible, idiosyncratic lead guitar playing alongside one of the greatest bass players of all time in John Paul Jones and then set them off against the fearless inventive, rule breaking Steve Noble will be a remarkable evening. Incredibly - at least at time of writing (7 Feb 10:55am) - there's still tickets left - and you'll be helping towards a good cause. Check here.

In other Sonic Youth news, Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon has announced she'll be holding an art exhibition at Andy Warhol’s museum. The Sonic Youth bassist originally started out as a visual artist and studied Los Angeles's Otis College of Art and Design and moved to New York to pursue a career in art. It was here, however, she met a tall, talented Thurston Moore began a relationship and formed Sonic Youth.

The exhibition is titled Kim Gordon: Lo-Fi Glamour and Warhol's museum is in the old industrial town of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Remarkably, it's Kim Gordon's first ever solo art show in North America.

Pitchfork reports that the show will consist of feature Gordon’s paintings, drawings and sculpture, a score that Warhol commissioned from Gordon for his 1964 silent film Kiss titled Sound for Andy Warhol’s Kiss. Additionally, there's new, never-before shown figure drawings by Gordon. The exhibition opens in May.

Elsewhere, avant-garde dark jazz news Steve Noble will be performing at Cade Oto on 24 February and 6 March.
