Following the release of lead single ‘Animal’ back in January, which has already amassed over 1.6million views, Aurora has today (5 April) released ‘The Seed’.
This new track paints a picture of environmental disasters such as poisoned rivers and felled trees, and the lyrics are based around a Native American saying of “you cannot eat money, oh no”. In true Aurora style, tribal drumming provides a contrasting backdrop for her intimate, eerie vocal. Her vision for the album is for it to sound more “explosive and noisy” than her older material, while still remaining true to her roots. Listen to the track here:
The upcoming album, titled A Different Kind of Human and released on Decca Records on 7 June, has ecological themes running throughout, which seems as vital as ever. “People say ‘live like you don't care’ or ‘party like you don't care’, but I like to care,” she says. “I think people do, too, now more than ever, for example when Trump was elected people became more involved politically because they were frustrated. It’s a time of open ears and open eyes”. “The music is supposed to be fuel,” she says. “Not against people but for the fire inside us”. This increased sense of awareness works well with the experimental nature of her work, and aims to change perspectives and inspire change.
This album is the second part of her critically acclaimed, surprise release Infections Of A Different Kind. In all it's cinematic, conceptual, electronic glory, it firmly positions Aurora as an artist in every sense of the word - she is a creative force to be reckoned with.
