Elvis Presley proved he is still a star attraction by attracting $2,640 for one of his prescription pill bottles at auction yesterday.
The price was made even more extraordinary considering the bottle was in fact empty - although this was due to the police, rather than Elvis’ well-known pill-popping capabilities.
The CEO of Julien’s Summer Auction, Darren Julien, explains, “We'd planned to sell the bottle with the pills, but the Los Angeles Police Department told us it would be a federal crime to do it, so sad to say we had to remove the pills.”
A gold-plated gun belonging to the legendary singer went for an even bigger price, with a bidder at the Beverly Hilton Hotel shelling out $28,800 for the weapon – which was probably empty too.
