It’s bleak, beautiful domestic symbolism from the excellent indie rockers

China Bears have shared their visuals for latest track ‘Sunday’, an exquisitely-riffed journey into a mind struggling with mental ill-health, and it’s a fitting video that focuses on the slow rise of bathwater.

The band’s four members can be seen lying in a bath - a mat to the right of the frame and a simple tile floor surrounding it. As ‘Sunday’ ascends to its crashing apogee, the water rises slowly around the bands’ clothed figures. You can see the video here:

The plainly-dressed set complements China Bears’ track beautifully: in the bathroom, we can feel the real fragility of the lyrics, and soak in a domestic setting - where many mental health struggles take place. In the song, Ivan sings: “I ran a bath an hour ago, now the water’s turned cold.” Guitarist Frazer explains further, “’Sunday’ was written about one particular Sunday afternoon. I had just moved away from home to university and had become extremely isolated and insecure in myself and my abilities, and on that day it was a little too much. I think everyone goes through that feeling at some stage, circumstances cause friendships and relationships to change and you can feel like people aren't there for you anymore.”

China Bears, who are Ivan, Frazer, Dean and James, have already self-released three other tracks, while ‘Sunday’ appears on Spotify’s ‘Hot New Bands’ and ‘Your Office Stereo.’
