Mike Oldfield’s prized Fender guitar, used on his seminal 1973 album Tubular Bells, is set to go up for auction.

Adding to its value, the six string guitar was previously owned by T Rex’s Marc Bolan and is expected to fetch £25,000 to £35,000 when it goes under the hammer at Bonhams in London.

Oldfield is donating all proceeds from the sale to the mental health charity Sane.

The guitar is just one of a series of lots, including the original design for John Lennon’s 1967 Rolls Royce Phantom V, plus a Marc Bolan suit as worn on the cover of T Rex’s greatest hits album.

There will also be a string of film memorabilia up for auction.
