More about: Lazy Day
London’s Lazy Day have released their euphoric, anxious new tune ‘Real Feel’ for those of us needing some emancipation from our emotions this autumn. The new single is a band highlight that perfectly imitates the fleeting, golden sense of wellbeing that can emerge from mental anguish.
Blending sad-girl folk with some sugar high indie pop, ‘Real Feel’ is a bittersweet anthem for escaping the past. It comes in the middle of the four-piece’s European tour, which follows Letters EP, a release made possible by their own Weird Cool Records.
In a matching music video for the new release, the band get stuck into some gloriously awkward coordinated dance moves in brightly-coloured outfits. Dancing together, the group exude good feelings: there’s the sense that good friends are a key operative factor in moving on.
Because moving on is what ‘Real Feel’ is all about. On the new release, songwriter and vocalist Tilly Scantlebury said that “‘Real Feel' is about being pushed and pulled between the past and the present, and between being sad and feeling hopeful…a lot of these lyrics deal with this fear of being dragged backwards. Ultimately though, this song feels like a reminder to myself to not let things get in the way of being happy.”
