Bittersweet news today with the announcement that Europe's biggest and most vibrant street party Notting Hill Carnival will take place online this August Bank Holiday. Organisers announced an impressive line-up for the first ever digital edition today.

All the things that make Carnival Carnival - from steel bands, sound systems and Mas bands to excellent food and drink - will take over the official event website across the weekend of 29-31 August.

Of course, this will be the first time in the event's 54 year history that it will be online.

Spotify will also host a special corner of the internet for the cancelled event: the microsite will feature curated playlists. On the main channels, check out a 'parade' featuring bands including Mangrove, Ebony and Tempo, steelpan music from Pan Nation, UFO and more, plus sound system sets from the best of the best.

Filmed over a month-long period, the Access All Areas version of Notting Hill Carnival is an unprecedented effort. "Now, more than ever, it’s important to keep the spirit of Notting Hill Carnival alive, giving an outlet to the thousands of people that spend all year creating incredible costumes and music for Europe’s largest event" Chief Executive Matthew Phillip said.

Notting Hill Carnival: Access All Areas will stream on 29-31 August here.
