Joel Culpepper has released the next track from his debut album, Sgt Culpepper, which is now confirmed for release 23 July via Pepper Records. ‘Thought About You’ is a refreshingly modern take on soul that is driven forward by a strong bassline and Culpepper’s show stopping falsetto in the chorus.

It’s songs like this that make him really stand out from the crowd as a performer. Munya Chawawa appears in the charming '70s video, moonlighting as a talkshow host. 

Culpepper explains how ‘Thought About You’ fits in with the rest of the album:

“Thought About You' leads the charge for ‘The Love’ chapter on the record. This chapter represents a side of me that’s often seen on stage - impulsive, passionate and in the moment. I think this song is a reflection of all those things - I flipped the script from previous tracks in a nod to sensual psychedelic soul.”

In our recent Hello Tomorrow interview, Culpepper told Gigwise that he can’t wait to get back on stage with “the energy and transference among yourself and the crowd” – and ‘Thought About You’ is sure to be an electric performance once it’s possible again.
