More about:

Irish newcomers M(h)aol have shared a brand new single today. 'No One Ever Talks To Us' is an intense krautrocky post-punk song about being female in a male-dominated area.

The single gets a delightfully spooky video just in time for Halloween today: the dark, flickering visuals reference Barbara Creed’s The Monstrous Feminine, Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body and the Julia Kristeva essay Powers of Horror.

"No one ever talks do us unless they wanna fuck" they sing on the slick new song:

Singer Róisín Nic Ghearailt says, "’No One Ever Talks To Us’ is an amalgamation of our own personal experiences of being in a predominantly female band in a predominantly male genre".

The song follows September's 'Gender Studies'.

On the EP as a whole, lead vocalist Róisín says, “Gender studies weaves past & present in an exploration of how the construct of gender shapes our lives. From feeling like you're not performing your gender right to the way it shapes how we move through the physical, sexual & romantic sphere it marries urgent lyrics with a threatening yet (blank) sound."

Gender Studies EP Tracklist:

1. Gender Studies
2. Desperation
3. Kinder Bueno (Vinyl Only)
4. Laundries
5. No One Ever Talks To Us
6. Óró Sé do Bheatha Bhaile
