The National have just released ‘Somebody Desperate’, their first single since 2019. The song is taken from the soundtrack to upcoming film Cyrano, which stars Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage. The soundtrack sees the band collaborate with the London Contemporary Orchestra as well as the cast of the film.

‘Somebody Desperate’ is a hauntingly beautiful track that sees the band go above and beyond with the support of a full orchestra and pianist Víkingur Ólafsson. It creates the kind of perfect, cinematic atmosphere that we’ve come to expect from The National over the years while showing that they can still exceed all expectations.

The full Cyrano soundtrack will be released 10 December via Decca.
