Australia’s The Chats are back today with another piece of red-hot punk from their new single ‘6L GTR’. It comes with the bonus announcement that they’re releasing a new album, eloquently titled GET FUCKED. The new record arrives 19 August via Bargain Bin Records.

The Chats are taking punk back to its raucous roots on this track as they explore the mind of the titular license plate’s owner. The track once included a reference to Van Halen’s ‘Panama’ that got shut down by David Lee Roth’s people. “What a dog cunt”, says vocalist and bassist Eamon Sandwith. That’s pretty punk if you ask us.

Sandwith explained how the song came about after spotting a license plate in an airport car park:

“I don't even know if the car itself was actually a six-litre GTR or anything. To be honest with you, I don't even know what a car like that would look like! I can't drive! That was the thing, we were just trying to get into this dude’s head. We were like, ‘When he’s fangin’ it in his car, what’s in his head? What does he do?’ It was a fun exercise.”
