In a similar style to The Great Gatsby and Romeo & Juliet, the soundtrack delivers a modern take on an old story. Mixing Hound Dog, a song that made Elvis famous, with Doja Cat’s signature fun verses and cheeky lyricism, the result is something endlessly catchy and totally perfect for what we know of the movie so far.
Featuring Shonka Dukureh, who is playing Big Mama Thornton; the woman that originally recorded Hound Dog - the track feels especially special as a nod to the black women that Elvis laid his musical foundation on. Launching the soundtrack with this banger as opposed to a classic Elvis cover lays all the focus back on the rich legacy behind the singer.
