More about:

Continuing their reign as one of our key ones to watch, Prima Queen return with ‘Butter Knife’; a spoken-word infused track that's more poetry than pop.

Capping off a breakthrough year for the band, the softness of the track feels so ampt. Like an interlude reunite them with themselves and the artistry that interested them, ‘Butter Knife’ grounds them with its roots in the domestic and family. Pairing gentle harmonised choruses with narrative verses, it leapfrogs off some of our favourite spoken word tracks of recent years, like Self Esteem’s ‘I Do This All The Time’ merged with Keats.

Focused on the feelings of losing a loved one to Alzheimers and watching someone slowly fade away, they said; “When they pass away the loss is confusing because not only are you grieving the person you knew before the illness, but also the person they became."

After meeting by chance during Kristen’s semester abroad, i think the whole world will come to be very, very thankful for the lucky run-in.

‘Butter Knife’ is out now.
