The new single ‘Boys Like You’ by Charlotte Lawrence doesn’t waste any time in throwing you into her unique ability as a song writer. We are plunged right into the chorus, one that pines for a girl who likes boys and who boys like back. It’s a sad narrative, one of hopeless romanticism, but it’s also so catchy it’s hard not to nod your head to it.

Charlotte is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles and this new single marks a release in what has already been a successful and heartfelt run of singles. It’s clear these are getting noticed and are being enjoyed, especially given one of her most recent, ‘Bodybag’, was featured on the new Apple TV show ‘Shrinking’.

“I wrote ‘Boys Like You’ for anyone who ever wanted someone who didn’t want them back,” said Charlotte about the new single, “they might play around with the idea of it, even send some mixed signals, but ultimately, they don’t love you like you love them. We’ve all been there. It hurts, but it doesn’t have to pull you under. I’m dancing through the ache, and I hope you can dance with me. ‘Boys Like You’ is fun and joyful. It’s filled with flirty summer longing… just like me. Hope you love it.”

Charlotte is right. Despite there being a sad narrative attached to this song, it’s a lot of fun to listen to, it makes you want to dance, throw your arms around people and sing along. Simply put, this isn’t a tune that you should be missing out on any time soon. Charlotte is an incredible songwriter who clearly has a promising career ahead of her.
