- Watch Kanye West - 'Champion'
US rapper Kanye West has admitted that he doesn’t understand the mass hysteria around Arcade Fire.
West – who is preparing to release his third album, ‘Graduation’ – has said that he just doesn’t "get” the Canadian band.
“Man, I don't really get the Arcade Fire thing,' he told the observer. “I been listening to it on my iPod, trying to understand why people get off on it, but I just don't get it.”
West also spoke about his upcoming chart battle with 50 Cent, who releases his new album, ‘Curtis’ on September 11th – the same day as West.
“It's better, isn't it? It makes it more of an event,” admitted the singer. “It's more important for me to be involved in an event than to say I had a number one album.”
He added: “If I come out on a week no one else is out and go to number one people will be like, "Whatever ...", but if I come out the same week as 50 and go to number two people will be like [excited], “How close are the numbers? I need a recall!’”
- I’m with KW on this one. Arcade Fire, they’re good but nothing outstanding. All a bit high brow and anal for me.
- I think KW just knows how to play the role of the contrarian to keep himself in the news...he does it over and over again...er, he’s also so full of himself it cuts the line between comedy and tragedy.
- Arcade Fire is for smart people. That is why he does not ’get’ it.
- How likely is it that a man in a silver suit with a daft name is going to burst their bubble ?
- how likely is it that a man in a silver suit with a daft name will burst their (earned)bubble ?
