Fink – ‘This Is The Thing’

‘This Is The Thing’ is possibly the perfect song to release as the end of summer is nigh: “it’s getting dark and it’s getting cold and the nights are getting long” a mournful voice floats out over delicate guitar rhythms.  You might recognise it from the Mastercard advert where everyone is on holiday, and it is probably the song’s understated elegance that first attracted it to the advertising industry bigwigs.  B-side ‘Make It Good’ has more of a chilled out dance feel and less of an emotional impact than the A-side, but is still equally alluring.  Perfect to listen to and lament our lack of summer sun.
