The Ramones' Former Manager Found Murdered

Linda Stein, The Ramones’ former manager, has been found murdered at her home in Manhattan, New York.

Her daughter discovered the 62-year-old’s body in the kitchen of her Fifth Avenue home and immediately alerted the police, who have said they are yet to find a suspect or a motive for the killing.

Post-mortems carried out on the body have found that Stein died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Stein co-managed The Ramones with Daniel Fields, who both were responsible for breaking the band in the UK in 1976 having brought them over from America.

Fields said of Stein, “She was very tough, but very loving and generous. It was enough dealing with her death. Now it’s a murder.”

The manager was the former wife of Seymour Stein, the influential president of Sire Records and vice president of Warner Brothers.

She quit as manager of The Ramones and business partner to Daniel Fields in 1980 and became a real estate agent to celebrities.
