The line-up for this year’s Evolution Festival in Newcastle and Gateshead has been confirmed today.
The likes of Duffy, CSS, Kate Nash, Reverend & The Makers, Glasvegas, Crystal Castles, The Whip and New Young Pony Club will all be playing at the event, held on the May Bank Holiday.
Split over two stages – The Baltic and Spillers stage – Evolution 2008 is expected to attract in excess of 60,000 revellers.
For the first time, punters will have to pay for a ticket to attend. However, these will be a mere £3 each, with the proceeds going directly to Water Aid – a charity which helps give African people access to clean water.
Festival Director Jim Mawdsley said, “We are again extremely proud to put together such a diverse and exciting programme for Evolution this year.
This event is without doubt the biggest music festival in the North and is a massive celebration of both our musical heritage and prominence on the world stage. It is only left for everyone to enjoy the whole weekend of gigs and events.”
