- Watch The Cribs - Men's Needs
The Cribs fourth, and surely final, release from last year’s ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’ album is a cracking cut of apathetic romance, the kind of track that you hardly notice you’re listening too, but enjoy just the same. The Jarman brothers do sound like they’re going through the motions somewhat on this mid-tempo chug, lacking the spark of vehemence previous releases have contained. This is mirrored in the lyrics, which spin a tale of indifferent indecision, sang with just enough agitation to engage.
'I'm A Realist' ends on the wonderfully disdainful snipe of “Seen it in your eyes/No one will ever do/No one will ever do for you.” But this venom is generally lacking as the track wanders past. It will do for now, if only to build anticipation for the forthcoming Johnny Marr collaboration.
Released 25/02/08 on Wichita.
