Oxfordshire is adding another festival to the county's full looped belt, this year playing host to Wakestock Festival.
The festival, named in honour of 60s love fest ‘Woodstock’, will be held this June in the tranquil grounds of Woodstock’s Blenheim Palace. FYI: Woodstock is a town in Oxfordshire.
Acts confirmed include The Streets, Groove Armada, The Young Knives, Funeral for a Friend, Supergrass, Hadouken!, Audio Bullys, Friendly Fires and Metronomy.
Speaking to the local press, Alan Day, promoter of the event, said “We’ve never had an event like this before – it will be the biggest contemporary music festival in the county and will be on the most beautiful site”.
Alan Day is joint head honcho, alongside his business partner ex Zodiac owner Nick Moorbath, over at The Club That Cannot Be Named (TCT music) – your one stop shop for Oxford gig goodness.
As well as being hands on in TCT music, Alan Day has also been involved in many local festivals including Truck; Nick Moorbath is the man responsible for Radiohead’s legendary performance in South Park a few years back. So hat’s off to them!
The three day festival will see a coalition between wakeboarding and music between June 27th and 29th. Weekend tickets will cost £85 and Camping tickets £110.
TCT Music will be running its own 7000 person capacity music marquee at the event.
Wakestock founder Mark Durston told the local press that the event is to be “a really cool mix of the world’s best wakeboarders, bands and Djs, right at the forefront of the live music scene.”
FYI: For the past eight years the festival has been held in Abersoch in Wales.
