‘Speak To Me Bones’ is taken the from mini album, 'Applause Cheer Boo Hiss’. Immediately full of fully-fledged alternative Canadian energy, this carelessly slurred song is vibrantly sexy. The female fronted band is set to support Asobi Seksu and Menomena from February to March, and perhaps one day they will supersede these two bands. If a quirky and more excitable alternative to Feist sounds up your street, then listen out for this track.
The dragging vocals recall those of Giant Drag, while the words seem drawn out, above the speedy beats of the guitars, the song is in fact fast and packed full on variations in rhythm and vocals, making a truly gripping track. It is a refreshing break from the increasing numbers of similar sounding female vocalists in the UK. As is the case with many Canadian bands, Land Of Talk - going on this song at least - need to be given the time of day.
Released 03/03/08 on One Little Indian.
