Martina Topley Bird will play her first live gig in four years at a one-off gig on April 2nd, kicking off a new club night in East London hosted by Scruffy Bird.
Martina first lept into the musical limelight on Tricky’s Maxinquaye in 1995. Now, over a decade later, she is preparing to release a new album entitled ‘The Blue God’, produced by Danger Mouse, on May 12th this year.
The performance on April 2nd will be held at the newly refurbished Star of Bethnal Green (formerly The Pleasure Unit), in London. It is the first in a brand new series of weekly club nights organised by Scruffy Bird.
In the coming weeks Scruffy Bird will also be showcasing a whole host of exciting new acts including Cage The Elephant, Bombay Bicycle Club, Micachu & The Shapes, The Laurel Collective, The Invisible, White Denim, Friskaviljor and Dead Pixels.
The club night kicks of from 8pm with bands performing between 9pm and 10pm, followed by exclusive live sets by Scruffy Bird DJs.
