Former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland has slammed his former band mates less than a day after he played his final gig with the group.
In a statement, Weiland described the way the band had dealt with his departure as “a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth."
Yesterday, guitarist Slash said that Weiland had been forced to go because Velvet Revolver “is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either".
However, in his own statement released to Billboard, Weiland said: "The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time.
“On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun ... at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name)."
Weiland performed for the last time with the band in Amsterdam last night.
The singer has already confirmed that he will return to his original group, The Stone Temple Pilots, who are expected to announce a host of reunion shows later this week.
