Against Me! have been around for quite a while. Over ten years in fact. It was originally a solo project from seventeen year old Tom Gabel with acoustic ('protest') ambition; but over the years, they've gained momentum and a few more members, adding a few successful albums to their studded belts. Now, they're signed to a Warner offshoot, perhaps in an attempt to finally reap the recognition they feel they deserve. With the ever willing aid of superstar Producer Butch Vig they've gleamed and grimed their heavy rock sound in a more mainstream direction. There is little to distinguish 'Stop!' from any thing else such an oversaturated genre has to offer; it plods along with the same mundane conversational lyrics about how we're all shit because we're not living life to the full. Uh-huh. If you take some time to think about it, buying this record probably isn't on the top of your 'to do' list. Living life is man! Yeah, total clichéd mush then...
Released 14/04/08 on Warner.
