Dizzee Rascal believes that the decision to make Jay-Z a headliner at Glastonbury was “a funny one.”
The 23-year-old East Londoner is unsure whether Jay-Z has the same crossover appeal as other rappers like Kanye West and Eminem, but is nevertheless delighted to see Jay-Z headlining.
He said: "It's amazing to me man, as a fan that's just like wow. I never saw that coming and I could never picture Jay-Z at Glastonbury but it's all good."
Asked about appeal that Jay-Z will have to revellers who are more into guitar acts, Rascal commented to the BBC: "I don't know if Jay-Z has got that cross over element. Kanye West or Eminem, they've both got that. Jay-Z is a bit of a funny one."
The rappers comments follows the fierce criticism from Noel Gallagher early in the week, where he said that it was “wrong” for Jay-Z to top the bill at Glastonbury.
He ranted: "If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.
"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?'
"I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
