Helsinki, the side project of Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell, also made a special appearance at the event.
McConnell’s outfit were joined by members of The View, Guillemots and Reverend and the Makers frontman Jon McClure for the performance.
The event went ahead following a major donation from Morrissey, who helped make up a £75,000 deficit that was left when the carnival’s main sponsor pulled out.
