Two of Elvis Presley’s closest friends, Lamar Fike and Marty Lacker, have denied claims that the singer made a secret trip to London in 1958.
Mr Fike, who was with Presley during his time in the US army, said the trip “did not happen.”
It was previously believed that Presley had only visited the United Kingdom once in his lifetime during a stopover at Prestwick Airport in 1960.
However, rock star Tommy Steele acknowledged recently that he had taken the singer on a sightseeing trip around London two years earlier.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Fike said that he was with Presley “the whole time” and that he was “confined to base.”
"Had he gone to England, I'd have been there,” Mr Fike added.
Steele was forced to break his silence about the supposed visit after Theatre producer Bill Kenwright told Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2 that the pair had visited the House of Parliament.
In a letter to the Daily Mail, Steele said that he “regrets” that details of the trip had leaked.
