The United Kingdom could lose its automatic place in the Eurovision song contest, according to new reports.
Currently the country is guaranteed a place in the final because of its substantial contribution to the event.
However, comments made following last weekend’s final, which suggested the competition had split East and West Europe, are understood to have upset the events organisers.
According to the Mirror newspaper, the UK’s place in the competition will now be discussed by the European Broadcasting Union.
Svante Stockselius, head of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: "Every year, we evaluate and debrief each contest. We will discuss these things there."
As previously reported, broadcaster Terry Wogan suggested at the conclusion of Saturday’s live final that the event was “no longer a song contest”.
His remarks were backed by other representatives of the music and entertainment industry, including Bruce Forsyth and Simon Cowell.
Russia won this year's Eurovision, with the UK finishing joint last with 14 points.
