Apple's new iPhone 3G will be available on a pay as you go tariff in the United Kingdom, it's been announced.
It will be the first time that the phone, which was originally launched last year, will be available without a monthly contract.
The iPhone 3G was unveiled by Apple's chief executive Steve Jobs yesterday (June 9th) at the company's WWDC conference in San Francisco.
In addition to 3G capabilities, which allow faster internet connection speeds, the new phone with come with an inbuilt GPS system.
The device will also be cheaper, ranging from £99 on minimum contracts to free for those who subscribe to a cheaper package. It is released on July 11th.
Yesterday's announcement has been greeted cautiously by Apple loyalists, many of whom expected a more comprehensive new product.
