Primal Scream have revealed they could make a surprise entry into a forthcoming Eurovision song contest.
Speaking to Gigwise, keyboardist Martin Duffy explained that he would love to shock everybody with an unexpected appearance at the event.
“I wouldn’t put it past us. I know people have wanted to do it. It would be a challenge wouldn’t it (laughs).”
Duffy is a regular follower of the contest and has become disheartened by the political voting of most countries and the fact that you don’t get to see as many bad artists any more.
“Now they have semi finals – so the real rubbish stuff that’s entertaining doesn’t make the final, which is a shame.”
Gigwise and Duffy pondered the idea that perhaps a song where the lyrics are made entirely of swearwords could be an interesting solution to the UK’s poor results. After a burst of laughter Duffy added: “They’ve (UK) got nothing to lose.”
Primal Scream actually visited the recording studio of distinguished Eurovision winners Abba to make new album ‘Beautiful Future’ – which is out later this month.
Speaking of the experience Duffy explained: “I played the Dancing Queen piano and they’ve still got the same vibes. Even the headphones and the microphones – all the equipment hadn’t changed since the 70s.”
