Landlord In Amy Winehouse's Husband Trial Found Not Guilty

Of perverting course of justice...

The pub landlord who was attacked by Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been found not guilty of perverting the course of justice.

A jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court cleared James King unanimously of accepting a £200,000 bribe to withdraw his complaint of assault against Fielder-Civil and another man, Michael Brown.

Both have admitted causing grievous bodily harm to King outside the Macbeth pub in East London in 2006.

Fielder-Civil, King and two others, Anthony Kelly and James Kennedy, have also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

In their trial, which began last month, King told the jury that he had been intimidated into withdrawing his statement. An action that would have meant both Fielder-Civil and Brown escaped charges.

Sentencing on the remaining defendants is expected in July. Fielder-Civil faces upwards of five years in prison over the charges.
