Police drummer Stuart Copeland has confirmed that the band will never play together again after their current reunion tour concludes next month.
Copeland said the band's world tour, which began over a year ago, “was always planned as a very finite thing.”
"In the back of our minds there was the possible 'Who knows? Maybe if some new material comes up or something like that, you never know...' But the mission has always been finite,” he told Billboard.
The Police's last concert, which is due to take place at Madison Square Garden on August 7th, will be followed by the release of a special DVD.
The film, produced by Copeland's son, Jordan, documents the band's reunion and also includes live footage from two shows in Argentina last December.
"It's unbelievable to see the early rehearsals compared to where we're at now. Some of them were so raw we had to take them out, some of the scenes,” Copeland said, referring to the DVD.
“But he's still got the nitty gritty there, with us each grappling with the reality of life in the band again."
