Kaiser Chiefs To Headline Love Music Hate Racism Carnival

In Rotherham next month...

Kaiser Chiefs will headline a huge indoor Love Music Hate Racism carnival in Rotherham next month.

The Leeds band will be joined by Reverend and the Makers, Roll Deep and The Courteeners at the concert, which will take place at Magna.

The carnival is a joint venture between LMHR and Reverend and the Makers frontman Jon McClure and aims to stop the BNP from gaining a foothold in South Yorkshire.

"You think how music has changed in the last 50 years and we would have none of that mixture of music and culture if the likes of the BNP had their way,” McClure said.

“People seem to be wanting to vote almost as a protest, but they don't want to get into the hands of the BNP.

“So we thought rather than do the event in Sheffield we would do it in Rotherham and say to these people 'We don't want you here, we don't want your fascist shit."

Tickets for the event on September 6th have already gone on sale.

As previously reported on Gigwise
, McClure announced this morning that he would be retiring from the music industry in early 2009.

  • Music would be boring if the BNP had their way? The Kaiser Chiefs are well known for their rap, jazz and bhangra rythmns aren’t they.

  • Are the Kaiser Chiefs actually playing? Because it doesn’t say on the tickets?
