George Michael 'Should Have Been Prosecuted' Over Drugs Arrest

Leading experts say...

George Michael should have been prosecuted after he was arrested for possession of crack cocaine, a number of leading experts have said.

Michael was given a caution for possessing class A and class C drugs when found in a public toilet on Hampstead Heath last Friday (September 19th).

The singer has apologised to fans for “screwing up again” but his caution has been widely condemned, with one former QC telling the Telegraph that he could not “understand how or why someone in his position, and with his previous record, could be let off with a caution."

Keith Matthewman QC added: "It gives the wrong impression to young people who are thinking about drugs or are actually addicted. I find the decision appalling."

Another official questioned what Michael would “have to do to be dealt with properly.”

Sources claim that Michael was only given a caution because he is due to appear at an Aids benefit event in America next month. A conviction would have led to visa problems.

The decision not to charge the singer was taken by the chief inspector at the police station.

Last month Michael ended his touring career with two shows in London. You can see highlights on Gigwise below.
