Blood on the Sand, the second video game from US rapper 50 Cent, could be axed because the video games market is over-saturated with shoot em' up titles, industry reports claim.
The game is scheduled to be released next March but it's future is now in doubt following a merger between Activision and the game's publisher Vivendi.
Activision, who are responsible for games such as Crash Bandicoot and Ice Age, are reluctant to release games that don't fit into their “long term strategy”.
A spokesperson for the company told Kotaku: “We will not publish other titles that previously were part of the Vivendi Games portfolio and are currently reviewing our options regarding these titles.”
Blood on the Sand is the rapper's follow-up to 2005's Bulletproof, which was poorly received by critics but achieved huge sales figures.
Developers are still said to be working on the title, which follows the rapper through an unnamed Middle East country, despite the uncertainty surrounding its future.
