Foo Fighters took home the prize for Band of the Year at the Classic Rock Awards in London last night (November 3rd).

The band's frontman, Dave Grohl, accepted the award in a video message from America.

Led Zeppelin won Event of the Year for their reunion show at London's O2 Arena last December.

The concert, their first in 19 years, attracted one million applications for just 9,000 pairs of tickets.

Other winners included Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley who won Showman of the Year and Whitesnake whose latest LP, 'Good To Be Bad', picked up the prize for Best Album.

Ozzy Osbourne was presented with the Living Legend award by Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash.

Editor-in-chief Scott Rowley said the strength of the winners showed the current depth in the rock music scene.

He told the BBC: “Ozzy's a household name and bands like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and Guns N' Roses are getting more headlines and front covers than ever, breaking box office records and topping the charts.

"The Classic Rock Roll of Honour is a celebration of rock music as the most vital and vibrant genre of music."
