Catholic Cardinal: 'Madonna Triggers Impure Thoughts'
A Roman Catholic Cardinal has accused Madonna of triggering “impure thoughts” during her current tour of Chile.
Jorge Medina, who was chosen to announce the election of Pope Benedict XV, said the singer had arrived in the country in “an incredibly shameless manner”.
“She provokes a crazy enthusiasm, an enthusiasm of lust, lustful thoughts, impure thoughts," the Cardinal added.
The Associated Press reports that Medina made his comments during his homily at a Mass honouring the dictator Augusto Pinochet, who died in 2006.
Madonna was due to perform the first of two concerts at the National Stadium in Santiago last night (December 10th).
The singer's appearance in the country comes towards the end of her 28-date Sticky & Sweet world tour.
Madonna's tour, recently crowned the biggest ever for a female artist, has not been without its controversy.
The singer sent out strong political messages at the start of the trip – bracketing former presidential hopeful John McCain alongside Hitler in a video message.
