The two female members of ABBA, Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, have denied long-standing rumours that they are rivals.
Appearing on stage together in Sweden to collect a lifetime achievement award, Lyngstad said there was “absolutely no truth” in the claims.
Faltskog added: “No, we didn't fight. But we have to live (through) a whole lot of such misinterpretations.”
Faltskog and Lyngstad formed ABBA alongside the male singers Bjorn Ulvaeus Benny Andersson.
The group sold more than 370 million albums and were responsible for such hits as ‘Dancing Queen’ and ‘Gimme More’.
But since their split in 1982, Faltskog and Lyngstad have faced accusations that they didn’t get along during their time together.
"A lot has been written about how Agnetha and I fought and quarreled with each other. There is absolutely no truth in that," Lyngstad said.
"Of course we competed, but to good effect."
All four members of ABBA appeared together briefly last year at the premiere of the film adaptation of Mamma Mia!.
A recent survey found that ABBA were the band people most wanted to see reunite in 2009.
