- More Michael Jackson
An auction of Michael Jackson memorabilia will go ahead later this month after a US judge rejected the singer's request to stop the sale.
Last month, Jackson threatened legal action claiming the items had “effectively” been stolen from him.
Auctioneer Darren Julien of Julien's Auction House has said he agreed a contract with Jackson's managers and that the singer approved an initial press release.
In a court hearing last week, Julien's lawyer told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brett Klein that his client faced bankruptcy if the sale was halted.
"The contract is clear as well water," he said. Julien is reported to have spent $2million on the auction.
Jackson is expected to file a further court motion on April 15th to try and prevent the auction.
Items in the sale, some of which are currently on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York, include Jackson's famous crystal-encrusted glove and various stage outfits. Michael Jackson - Auction
The possessions, taken from the singer's former Neverland home, are due to be auctioned during a five-day sale at the Beverley Hills Hotel from April 22nd.
