- More Kanye West
US rapper Kanye West has criticised the owners of Twitter for failing to clamp down on fake accounts registered under his name.
In an angry message on his blog, West described the situation as a “fucking farce” and accused the website's owners of being “irresponsible and deceitful to their faithful users”.
He also reiterated that he was not a member of the micro-blogging website.
Over recent months, a series of accounts registered under the name Kanye West have coaxed users into believing the rapper was logging his daily activities.
But West wrote: “Why would I use twitter??? I only blog 5 percent of what I'm up to in the first place.
“I'm actually slow delivering content because I'm too busy actually busy being creative most of the time and if I'm not and I'm just laying on a beach I wouldn't tell the world.”
West added that the micro-blogging site offered everything “I need less of”.
The rapper also suggested that he had told the owners of Twitter that he wasn't a member of the website but they continued to allow the fake accounts to remain open.
“The heads of twitter knew I didn't have a twitter and they have to know which accounts have high activity on them,” West wrote.
“It's a fucking farce and it makes me question what other so called celebrity twitters are actually real or fake.”
Celebrities have flocked to Twitter over recent months - but a number of accounts have been exposed as fakes.
The Twitter account Kanye West has since been suspended “due to strange activity”.
