Apple Fans Braced For Arrival Of New Video iPhone

Apple are expected to unveil a new iPhone today which will enable users to capture video for the first time.

The device, reported to be named either the iPhone Video or iPhone 3GS, will also boast more memory and improved battery life.

It is thought the camera will be improved from 2 megapixel to 3.2 megapixel in order to cope with the addition of video.

The device, which will cost £125, will prompt Apple to slash the price of the existing 3G model, reports claim.

Speculation about a new iPhone has risen ahead of the start of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco today.

The company is also expected to use the event to further discuss the iPhone 3.0 software update, which includes the much called for copy and paste feature.

A new update of the iTunes software, released over the weekend, has already paved the way to make existing iPhone models compatible with the software upgrade.

Blogger John Gruber, who has developed a reputation for predicting iPhone updates, has outlined what he calls the 3GS model on his blog.

“I’m not certain that’s what it’ll be officially named, but my hunch is yes. I have no idea what the S stands for,” he wrote.

The WWDC conference will also mark the return of Apple's CEO Steve Jobs, who stood down in January because of illness.
