- More Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson's son Prince Michael watched as his father's doctor attempted to revive the singer at his home in Los Angeles, it's been claimed.
A friend of the Jackson family said Dr Conrad Murray asked the 12-year-old to remain in the room to ensure he had a witness.
The claims in today's Sun newspaper come as US court papers show that Dr Murray has been identified as the target of a manslaughter investigation into Jackson's death.
Police have previously claimed Dr Murray was not a suspect.
The doctor, who lived with the singer at his rented home in Holmby Hills, administered CPR before paramedics arrived to treat the star on June 25.
Dr Steven Hoefflin, a Jackson family friend, told The Sun: “I have been told by the family and from talking to the children that on the night Michael died, Dr Murray actually got one of the Jackson children - it was Prince Michael - to personally come into the bedroom to watch him performing CPR on his father.”
Dr Hoefflin said the singer's family had told him that “Dr Murray ensured Prince Michael understood the CPR procedure and that he was doing it correctly”.
He added: “It is the family's belief that this was intended to show a member of Michael's family that he was trying to bring Michael back to life.
“It was horrific and very traumatic for Prince Michael. Katherine and the rest of the family are sickened this happened.”
The police investigation in Jackson's death has come to focus on the singer’s alleged addiction to prescription medication.
Drugs agents and LA police seized a number of items, including a weight loss drug, during a raid on the Hoston office used by Doctor Murray earlier this week.
According to the BBC, the detectives' warrant showed they were were looking for "items constituting evidence of the offence of manslaughter that tend to show that Dr Conrad Murray committed the said criminal offence".
Dr Murray’s lawyer last month denied US media reports that claimed his client had injected the star with a drug similar to morphine in the hours before his death.
The Los Angeles Coroner's office has deferred Jackson's cause of death pending the results of toxicology tests.
