Michael Jackson was described as an “addict” in search warrants issued to police investigating his death, it's been reported.
The warrants were granted ahead of a raid on the Las Vegas home and office of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, on Tuesday.
Dr Murray, who was with Jackson when he suffered a suspected cardiac arrest on June 25, has become the focus of the police's manslaughter investigation.
According to the Associated Press news agency, the raids sought evidence supporting the charge, as well as a series of code violations.
Among those specified in the warrants were “prescribing to an addict” and “unprofessional conduct”.
The warrants also showed that police wanted all documentation on Propofol, the news agency reported.
Jackson is thought to have become addicted to the powerful sedative, which is commonly used to help induce a patient into unconsciousness before surgery.
Earlier this week, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press that Dr Murray regularly gave Jackson Propofol to help him sleep.
Police believe Dr Murray last administered the drug to Jackson through an IV shortly after midnight on June 25, the official said. The singer died 12 hours later.
The Los Angeles Coroner's office has deferred Jackson's cause of death pending the results of toxicology tests, which are expected shortly.
