- More Lily Allen
Lily Allen has sparked further debate on the issue of file-sharing by starting up a blog to house the views of musicians who side with her on the subject.
Going under the name of 'It's Not Alright', the blog features entries from Gary Barlow, James Blunt, Keane, Matt Bellamy and Bat For Lashes as well as links to opinion pieces from Patrick Wolf and Tinchy Stryder.
In an open letter to all musician Allen says, “What I’d like is for artists that don’t think file sharing is fine to get their message out there too. I want to make it clear that file sharing is not alright. And I want the industry and the artists that have made it, to look at how we can help those artists that are still struggling to break through in the file sharing age.”
Last week Lily Allen attacked the stance the FAC (Featured Artists Coalition) are currently taking on the plans to deal with file sharers and accused its members, including Billy Bragg and Radiohead's Ed O'Brien, of “Not helping British music.”
- James 'Rhyming Slang' Blunt claims that ISPs are dealing in stolen goods - what an utter James Blunt!
- Poor old Lily & James, they barely have 2 pennies to rub together :( My heart goes out to you. I sure hope all your fans don't decide you're sell-outs and let you fade into obscurity...cause then no one will want to steal your music and you'll have nothing to write about on your blog :(
- So I take it that Lily, Blunt and Barlow have never in their dull lifes read a book that has been passed on to them by someone else ? Has Lily NEVER copied an album from a friend to take home and listen to ? My guess is yes. Either are no different to downloading a track. Get used to it Lily.
- I laugh at these commercial artists, they get their own music written for them. I never listen to pop music or download it, I just hate it, I listen to uplifting trance music, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, etc I cannot stand anything commercial, but the world assumes everyone listens to pop music and nothing else, what about users on ISPS that never listen to pop music, will we have to pay a tax even though id rather go deaf first than have to listen to anything even remotely pop or commercial
- If she wrote 100% of her material I "might" have some compassion for her plight...but alas she doesn't, so I don't.
As a "professional hobby musician" I am happy to just complete a project. If someone is so interested in my music, my art, and feels the need to file share it to an audience...then AWESOME. Those are people who might never have heard of my music before.
Too bad she is a waste of commercial space that could be used for much better artists!
