Kanye West has apologised for posting a film directed by Spike Jonze on his blog.

We Were Once A Fairytale sees the rapper play himself drunk at a club and concludes with West plunging a knife into his stomach.

West debuted the movie online on Sunday, but later removed it without explanation.

"Sorry I had to take it down," he wrote in a message on his blog.

Originally premiered at the LA Film Festival in June, the 15-minute film was scheduled for release on iTunes in September.

However, it has still yet to be made available online.

West's apology comes just over a month after he was forced to say sorry for interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The rapper also recently cancelled a co-headlining tour with Lady GaGa, which was due to begin in November.
