- More Grizzly Bear
Grizzly Bear say they were inspired to write a song for the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack after they discovered Thom Yorke was appearing on it.
Chris Taylor from the Brooklyn band admits he's never read any of the books and the group were initially hesitant about getting involved in the soundtrack.
Explaining the band's reaction when they were asked to be involved, Taylor told Pitchfork: “Initially, it was like, "What?!" But Thom Yorke did it, and we like him. It's like: "If dad does it, it's OK, right?"
“Radiohead are like parents of good modern rock 'n' roll in certain ways. They paved that path. They've always maintained such a classy vibe environmentally, musically, and as just polite, down-to-earth people.
“They're really something to look up to and it's comforting to know that bands like that can make great music and it can be well received and they can set a precedent.”
Grizzly Bear went on to write and record the track 'Slow Life' (not to be confused with the Super Furry Animals song) for the movie, featuring Victoria Legrand from Beach House.
Taylor continued: “We wrote and recorded the song in a couple days, handed it in, and crossed our fingers. We were like, 'They're not going to take it.' But they did."
