Eminem has compared his problems with prescription drug addiction to Michael Jackson.
The rapper, who overcame his troubles during a stay in rehab two years ago, said he could relate to the late King of Pop.
Jackson died in June at the age of 50 after taking the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.
In an interview with Complex magazine, Eminem said one of the “pitfalls of fame” was the easy access he had to drugs.
"I could just say, 'Yo, I need this and this and this,' and they're going to give me whatever I want,” he said.
However, the rapper admitted he struggled to separate the truth from fiction when it came to reports about Jackson's private life.
He said: "When you read things about Michael Jackson it's hard to decipher what the fuck is true, but there's the story of how he woke up at whatever time and he needed something to go back to sleep because he has this or that and it didn't work - that's exactly what used to happen to me.
"I would take a couple of pills and I would be up an hour later and I'd want more.”
Eminem is expected to release his new album, 'Relapse 2', next year.
The rapper told the American magazine he had been working on songs in Hawaii with long-time producer Dr Dre.
