Ellie Goudling has become the third female solo artist in a row to be named the winner of the BRITs 2010 Critics’ Choice Award.

The 22-year-old singer from Hereford will now perform at the BRIT Awards launch at the IndigO2 on January 18 before picking up the award at the main ceremony at Earls Court, London on February 16.

Goulding said: “When I found out, I had a little squeal, I had a little cry, and I had a little fall down! I didn't believe it at first, but now that it’s sunk in I am delighted and utterly honoured to have been given this award. I couldn't be more happy and thankful to everyone right now.”

She follows in the footsteps of Adele and Florence & The Machine who scooped the gong in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Delphic and Marina & The Diamonds have been unveiled as the two runners up for the 2010 award.

  • I love her music (production starsmith), but she hasn't released or "acheived" anything as of yet? This is the work of a label behind you - corporate wheels clunking away.
