X Factor supremo Simon Cowell has phoned the founders of the Facebook campaign to get RATM to Christmas number one to congratulate them on making the chart battle interesting again.
Over past week, Cowell branded the 'Killing In The Name' campaign “cynical” and “stupid” and even accused it of “bullying” X Factor winner Joe McElderry.
Seemingly in a change of heart, last night Cowell phoned Jon Morter, who started the group with his wife Tracy, to thank him.
Speaking to Gigwise Tracy said: “Simon Cowell called and thanked us for making this the best chart battle in years.
“We've made his entire company work twice as hard apparently! For the record he was very sweet and we had a good chat about music and things.”
The Christmas number one will be unveiled on Gigwise later this afternoon. Stay tuned for details.
Although the chart battle is now closed, you can still donate to the charity Shelter HERE.
